                                                Francis David “Mickey” McKone 

 

     PALM BAY, FL - Francis David “Mickey” McKone, 71, of Palm Bay, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. 

 

     Born on April 3, 1953 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late John William McKone, Sr. and Dixie Lee (McNemar) McKone. He is also preceded in death by his brother, John W. McKone, Jr. 

 

     Mickey graduated from Piedmont High School, Class of 1971 and from the St. Leo College. He was a proud retired United States Air Force Veteran and served for 20 years specializing in aircraft welding. 

 

     His infectious smile, humor, and love for music carried on throughout his life. He never met a stranger and his presence brought joy to every room that he entered and his friendship was a gift to all who knew him. He enjoyed spending his days in the sun by the pool, listening to music, parties and participating in Karaoke. In his younger years he played guitar in a band. Mickey will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends and all who were touched by his light. 

 

     Left to cherish in his memory are his loving wife, Colonel Tammy Ann (Stewart) McKone; brothers, Robert Joseph McKone and Patrick Michael McKone; his two sisters, Carole L. George and Cynthia A. Marie McKone; his brother-in-law, John (Lisa) Stewart and sisters-in-law, Cathy (Edward) Stockwell, Mary Ann (John) Rocco and Linda McKone Beach. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his good friend, George Fuller. 

 

     Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 10:00 -11:00am. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00am with Deacon Harold Bradley as celebrant.  Interment will be held in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, Westernport. Military honors accorded by the United States Air Force National Honor Guard and the Keyser America Legion Honor Guard.  

 

     Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, WV and the Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care in Palm Bay, FL.
