Brett Mathew Steininger - son, brother, uncle, godfather, friend, entrepreneur, and a man with an infectious smile - passed away on September 4, 2015 at his family home in Clackamas County. He was 30 years old and well-loved by family, friends, and business associates alike. The first thing you should know about Brett is his sense of humor and how, even when he wasn’t feeling well, he would always cheer up anyone around him and lighten the mood. You could call him the class clown. His humor will always be remembered by those that knew him, and even by anyone that met him in passing. Besides his humor, Brett’s smile would melt away any sadness you might be feeling. If you look at any picture of Brett, you will always see his big, huge smile and shining dimples - his trademarks that drew people to him. His bright smile was the first thing people noticed about him; that and the fact that he would light up a room when he entered, cracking jokes, and making everyone laugh and smile. Beyond his smile and humor, Brett was known for his loyalty, hard work, dedication, drive, and tenacity, graduating with a Bachelors in Administration of Justice in only three years from Portland State University. He bought a house at the age of 19 and at 25 started his life-long dream of owning Subway franchises. At the time of his passing he owned three successful Subway restaurants. Brett brought joy into the lives of everyone he met in his life and everyone knew he loved them dearly, and they loved him back. He loved his family; his parents, his brothers, his nieces, his goddaughter, his aunts, uncles, cousins, all family, and his friends. Brett was generous and would help anyone that needed anything, whether it was food, money, a hug, or just a shoulder to cry on. He also helped people laugh when laughter seemed impossible. You could also call Brett the smile and laughter giver. Besides his passion for business and love for his family and friends, he derived pleasure from many other things, especially the Portland Trailblazers and golfing. He was survived by his parents, Dale and Eugenia Steininger; his brothers, Alex and Curt Steininger; his nieces, Cleo Brocius-Steininger, and Renea, Emma, and Kyleigh Steininger; and his Goddaughter, Cadence Payton. Funeral services will be held at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Funeral Home (6705 SE 14th, Portland, OR 97202) on Saturday, September 12th at 2pm and all are welcome, followed by a celebration of life Sunday the 13th from 2-5pm at Arrivederci (17023 SE McLoughlin Blvd., Milwaukie, OR 97267). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donates be sent to the Portland Sunshine Division (Checks payable to Sunshine Division, 687 North Thompson Street, Portland, OR 97227 - in honor of Brett Steininger – or http://www.sunshinedivision.org/donate/) or The Brett Steininger Memorial Fund to help with funeral costs, etc. at The Steininger Family, PO BOX 3370, Clackamas, Oregon, 97015-3370. We will all think of you every day and you will be missed. May you find peace in the afterlife! You will always be alive in our hearts, Brett. We all love you! Forever and always. Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home

At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
