Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
David Carl
November 20th, 1939 - March 12th, 2025
David Allen Carl, 85, of Jefferson Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born November20th 1939, and raised in the lovely town of Fort Atkinson, WI, Dave was the youngest of two children. Raised in a family of modest means, Dave was a model student and contributed to his family all throughout his youth.
He met Nancy at an accounting firm and love quickly blossomed. Shortly after they met, Dave joined the Army where he served as a lieutenant. They faithfully exchanged letter and stayed in touch while Dave served his country. Upon discharge, their romance grew and they were married in February 1963, settling in southern Wisconsin, where they raised their two lovely children together. Dave's keen eye for numbers and strong work ethic enabled him to climb the corporate ladder, ultimately retiring from a large regional bank as SVP of Credit. Dave and Nancy settled in Wild Rose, WI where they live peacefully until Nancy's death in 2001.
As fate would have it, Dave reconnected with his close high school friend and prom date, Yvonne, at a class reunion in 2003. They were both graduates of the illustrious Fort Atkinson High school class of 1957. Yvonne sought out his phone number and invited him to a classmate gathering. That was the beginning of a legendary connection they would share for the next 22 years. They married on July 10th, 2004. They spent the first of their married years in Fort Atkinson, later moving to Jefferson. They had the privilege of growing old together in a way very few are fortunate enough to enjoy.
Dave was an avid science fiction reader, aspiring pro-bowler, closet pool shark who enjoyed dancing, new Orleans Cajun music and a variety of pro and local sports teams. Devoted to his family, Dave upheld strong Christian values and regularly attended church, often serving on the Alter guild with Yvonne. His quick wit, keen sense of humor, authentic laughter and kind spirit will be deeply missed.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, and children Lisa (Donavan) and Rick (Pam), Step daughters Jane (D'Arcy) and Anissa (Ryan), Step son Dennis and his beloved grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
Funeral services will be held on March 22nd at Resurrection Church 210 Washington Street, Fort Atkinson. Visitation at 1pm, service at 2pm
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's name to Resurrection Church or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.

Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
