John Lutt, 83, of Black Forest, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.

John was born on March 2, 1942, in Wayne, Nebraska, to Emil "Bud" Lutt and Irene Test-Lutt. He was raised on the family farm with a strong work ethic and deep-rooted values, which he carried with him throughout his life. After graduating from Wayne High School, John proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea.

Following his honorable discharge, John settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he built a life and raised his family. John spent his career managing and supervising a team of managers for a major convenience store chain, 7-Eleven. Known for his dedication, leadership, and integrity, he earned the respect of his colleagues and employees.

In 1989, John married Virginia "Ginny" Cooper-Dunham, and they shared a wonderful life together. With this union, he gained a stepdaughter, Jeannie Kane. After taking an early medical retirement, John embraced his passions. He found joy in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces with skill and care. He also loved attending and participating in craft shows, proudly sharing his work. His days were often spent tending to his garden and property in Black Forest, where he enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature.

An adventurer at heart, John loved fishing, camping, and traveling in his motor home, exploring new places and creating memories with his loved ones. John was a grandfather to three grandchildren, Adam Lutt, Ryan Lutt, and Ashley Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Irene Lutt.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ginny Lutt; his son, Greg (Carrie) Lutt; his stepdaughter, Jeannie (John) Kane; his brothers, Lowell (Sue) Lutt and Verdel (Mindy) Lutt; and his grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of John's life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to wildlife or open space preservation, in John's memory.

John will be remembered for his strong spirit, and the memories he created with those he loved.

There is  an inurnment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 1:00PM, Friday, May 23, 2025.
