In Loving Memory

Barbara Gail Hembree Murphy passed away on March 22, 2025, in Centennial, Colorado. She was born in Enoree, South Carolina, on June 1, 1936, to James Ewell Hembree, Jr and Eva Marie Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry F. Murphy, Jr, sisters Myrtle and Virginia, brothers Bill and Earl, and her daughter Melinda.  She is survived by her sister Nina, her children Henry Franklin Murphy, III, Angela (Steven) McLaughlin, Jennifer (John) Jordan, 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. 

 

Barbara enjoyed arranging flowers, bird watching, spending time with her family, and playing games like Scrabble and Yahtzee, and she was an avid bowler.  The family describes her as a loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

 

Instead of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association.  

 

A graveside service will be held for Barbara on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12 PM, at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, SC 29209.
