Robert "Bob" L. Sargent, Jr.
July 27th, 1930 - March 15th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Robert L. “Bob” Sargent, Jr. of West Columbia, SC transitioned from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on March 15, 2025. Mr. Sargent was born in Flint, Michigan on July 27, 1930, as the first child of Robert L. Sargent, Sr. and Cora Ross Sargent. He retired from the United States Marine Corps with the rank of Warrant Officer after twenty years of honorable service; his thirteen service medals include the Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry.
Mr. Sargent worked in various capacities in the Radiology Department at Prisma Baptist Hospital for over 20 years and logged over 11,000 hours as a volunteer. A self-taught and talented musician on many instruments, Mr. Sargent especially loved leading and composing music for the handbell choir at his church; an exceptionally skilled craftsman, he created beautiful works of art and the frames to display them, and his magnificent stained glass art graces many homes and businesses throughout the area.
Mr. Sargent is survived by his loving wife of seventy-four years and eight months, Jessie Mae (Potter) Sargent; his three children, Michael, Cheryl, and Scott; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, with a new generation on the way; and his brother, Jim Sargent.
Mr. and Mrs. Sargent were members of Platt Springs United Methodist Church for nearly fifty years. A celebration of the life of Bob Sargent will be held there at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the handbell choir fund at the church.
