It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Ileana Isabel Boche-Lopez, affectionately known to many as “Ily,” who passed away on March 29, 2025, at the age of 70. Ily touched the hearts of everyone she met with her warmth, kindness, and the love she radiated to all. In fact, she signed her name “i.l.y.” – short for “I love you” – a reflection of the endless love she shared throughout her life.

Born on July 19, 1954, in Havana, Cuba, Ileana moved to the United States at the age of 13, embracing her new American life while never losing touch with her Cuban roots. She grew up in Hoboken, NJ, where she received her AA degree from Rutgers University before making her way to Florida. Her vibrant personality and infectious smile would fill any room, and she quickly formed lifelong friendships wherever she went.

Ily spent the latter half of her life in Polk County, where she raised her two cherished children, Riccardo and Gina. She enjoyed a fulfilling career as a financial supervisor, earning the admiration and affection of her colleagues, many of whom considered her a dear friend.

While she had many accomplishments in her career and life, her greatest legacy was the love she had for her family. They were her motivation in all areas, and her heart was forever tied to those she held dear. The loss of her parents was a heartbreak that she carried with her, as they were her world. Ileana loved spending holidays and summers with family, following through with annual traditions like Easter brunch and 4th of July celebrations at the beach. She looked forward to visiting with and spoiling her grandchildren every chance she got. Always thinking of them and making sure to get them gifts for every occasion—she even used her Bingo Bucks to buy them little treats for their next visit.

To know Ileana was to love her. Her charm, warmth, and resilience were unmatched. In her final years, she spent time in skilled rehabilitation facilities, where she worked tirelessly to regain her strength and ability to walk—and to dance again—showing the same determination and spirit that defined her life. Even in these challenging times, Ileana formed unique and lasting friendships with the nursing staff, a testament to her kindness and ability to connect with others.

Ileana leaves behind her children, Riccardo Boche and Gina Barfield; her adored grandchildren, Joshua Jr., Madison, Isaac, and a baby boy on the way. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Mayra Deeter, Julieta Urquiola, and Alfred Lopez. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Julio and Isabel Lopez.

Ileana leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the unshakeable belief that family is everything. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
