Born May 5, 1936 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, she was the daughter of the late Proceso Rama and Digna Romeral Rama. She was the youngest of five siblings named Delphin, Paul, Bernadita and Florencia and her nickname was “Minnie”.
Mrs. Harding graduated from Waimea High School in 1954 and from Kauai Technical School in 1956. She enlisted in the United States Army from 1956-1959 and was part of the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) where she met her husband Bob. They soon married and settled into their forever home in Columbia, South Carolina, eventually with their five children Michael, Terry, Roger, Dale and Wendy. Rama worked civil service at Ft. Jackson until her retirement in 1997.
Rama was also a devout Catholic, who enjoyed many years of singing in her choir. She was a long term member of the chapel on Ft. Jackson, where she met many wonderful friends.
At the time of her passing, Mrs. Harding is survived by her two daughters, Leilani “Terry” Scaturro (Michael Anthony Scaturro “Scat”) and Wendy Harding Daughtry (Shawn), her sons Roger Harding (Amanda) and Dale Harding (Susan) and daughter-in-law, Tina Harding, grandchildren, Reid Scaturro, Resa Scaturro Beskid (Austin), Mollie Jane “MJ” Daughtry, Austin, Bailey (Temple) and Gavin Harding, Gantt, Ashleigh and Graham Harding, Cole and Lydia Harding, her sister Bernadita Remata of Kauai, Hawaii and many loving nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, “Minnie”.
Mrs. Harding was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert D. “Bob” Harding, her beloved son, Michael D. Harding (Tina), two brothers, Delfin Viquelia and Paul Viquelia, and her sister, Florencia Semana (Suelo).
Rama, Mom, Grandma, Grandmommy and Auntie Minnie, as she was affectionately known, was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was the most generous person, often giving to numerous charities and her church. Rama’s greatest joy was her family, friends and her dog Minnie. She cherished every moment with them and loved the family gatherings where they reminisced and often laughed until they cried. Sharing stories, laughing and keeping the peace was her gift. “Pray hard,” or “Put lotion” was always her advice to whatever ailed you. Her impromptu sense of humor was loved by all and she will forever, be deeply missed.
