Verna Elnora Sullivan
February 13th, 1939 - April 1st, 2025
Verna Sullivan of Gilbert, AZ, and formerly of Minnetonka, MN, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025. Born February 13, 1939, to Willard and Alice Porter in Heber, AZ, Verna was one of eight siblings.
Verna married Ben Sullivan in 1960. They lived in many places including India and South Africa as Ben pursued his mining career. She had impeccable taste with a flair for fashion and home décor which was influenced by her international travels. Most importantly, Verna put family first and has left an incredible legacy. Verna loved to cook and had a gift for entertaining. She also was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading and traveling.
Verna is survived by her daughter Diane (Thom) Praag, sons, Ben Jr. (Sally) and Steve, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by siblings Riley, Edward, and Marilyn. Verna was preceded in death by her husband Ben and siblings Richard, Norma, Perry, and Carol Ann. Verna was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Verna's life will be held at Meldrum’s Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, at 11:00 am in Mesa, AZ.
