Manuel "Chato" R. Sezate
August 15th, 1942 - April 2nd, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel R. “Chato” Sezate. Manuel was born in Mesa, Arizona on August 15, 1942 to Maurillo and Socorro Ramirez Sezate; he was raised by his grandparents Epifanio and Felicitas H. Sezate. Manuel was called to Heaven April 2, 2025, at the age of 82.
Manuel married the love of his life, Mary Zavala Huerta, on June 4, 1961. Manuel and Mary have 3 daughters, Socorro Garcia (Sonny), Mercy Ortiz (Guillermo), and Rosie Bonner (Darran); followed by their son, Manuel Sezate Jr. Manuel’s family would expand tremendously, with 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren. Manuel also adored his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his abundance of Godchildren, that’s why he was known as “The Godfather of Mesa”.
Manuel dedicated his life to his family, hosting gatherings, and joining gatherings to watch his loved ones grow, and laugh. Manuels mischievous jokes and humor will be missed, as you could always count on him to give you a chuckle.
Manuel is preceded in death by his brother Mike R. Sesate. Manuel is survived by his wife and best friend Mary; his sister, Linda Sandoval; his children, his grandchildren, and all his great grandchildren.Memorial Service to be held on Thursday, April 10th from 4 pm to 6 pm, at Meldrum Mortuary (52 N. Macdonald Mesa, AZ 85201). Mass will be held Friday April 11th at 11 am, at the Queen of Peace Church (141 N Macdonald, Mesa, AZ 85201) followed by the burial at his final resting place, Queen of Heaven (1562 E Baseline, Mesa, AZ 85204).
