Barbara M. Wayrynen, age 83 of Cloquet, passed away on March 5, 2025, in her home. She was born on December 9, 1941, at home in Rice River Township, McGregor, MN to Eino and Amanda (Siiro) Wayrynen. She was raised on the Wayrynen family farm along with 6 brothers and sisters. Barbara and her mother moved to Aspen Arms in Cloquet around 1970. She liked to say, “I’ve been here before the paint was even dry.”

Barbara enjoyed coloring, drawing, flowers, and watching The Waltons. She loved her home at Aspen Arms and all her resident friends and staff. She also loved her church family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Everyone was so good to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene, Reino, and Roy; sisters Norma Lima, and Doris Wayrynen. Left to mourn her is her sister, Lorraine O’Connor of Oregon City, Oregon, and many nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Oregon, and California.

Special thanks to her good friend Joe at Aspen Arms and her special cousin Deb Tillman.

Burial will be in Rice River Cemetery with her parents, Eino and Amanda Wayrynen and her brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on May 10 at 11am. Visitation will take place one hour prior. Memorials preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1705 Wilson Ave., Cloquet, MN 55720. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
