Michael Arnett Dellinger
August 3rd, 1957 - March 4th, 2025
Michael Arnett Dellinger left this world on March 4, 2025, probably to hitch a ride on the TARDIS and finally get the answers he always knew the universe was holding out on him. Born on August 3, 1957, he spent his 67 years lighting up the lives of everyone lucky enough to know him--with wit, wisdom, kindness, and just the right amount of dry British humor.
He was a true renaissance man: a die-hard Doctor Who fan, a lover of British theatre, and a walking library of good books and better stories. Raised among the wild beauty of Park County, Colorado, he ran up and down mountain trails before running up and down basketball and football fields in high school. His heart was as big as those Colorado skies.
Michael lived in many places, but his soul found its second home in the high desert light of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was never more at peace than sitting under the stars at the Santa Fe Opera or gazing into the vastness of Chimayo Canyon, letting the colors and silence say what words never could.
He was fiercely intelligent, deeply compassionate, and refreshingly real. Whether he was living in the stunning wilds of Alaska, discussing the nuances of social justice, or simply showing up for his friends--he was always guided by one core belief: treat others the way you'd want to be treated. He lived that every day. A champion for women's rights, a devoted friend, and an all-around incredible human, Michael made you feel seen, heard, and valued.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, David and Barbara Dellinger, and his sister Susan, all of whom he missed dearly and is now reunited with--probably in a beautifully lit theatre somewhere in the beyond.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and laughter. And while our world is a little dimmer without him in it, we know he's somewhere out there, probably debating Shakespeare with aliens or critiquing opera acoustics with angels.
In lieu of flowers, Michael would probably suggest you read a good book, treat a stranger kindly, or donate to a cause that uplifts others. And maybe, just maybe, re-watch a few classic Doctor Who episodes in his honor.
Allons-y, Michael. You were truly one of a kind.
