In Loving Memory of Charles Glass
Charles Glass, of Haines City, FL, passed away on April 15, 2025. Born on December 7, 1930, in San Benito, TX, to the late Ernest Lorenzo and Amy Ruth (Houghtling) Glass. He was 94 years old.
He came to Haines City in 1938 and graduated from Haines City High School in 1948. He also attended South Georgia and the Citadel.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Charles built a successful career as the owner and operator of Ridge Contracting and Heartland Excavating companies, where he worked for nearly 50 years before retiring in 1996. He was member of what was formerly the United Methodist Church in Davenport, FL.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman who cherished fishing, hunting, airboating, scuba diving, flying his small airplane and traveling in their RV. He enjoyed watching football and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and later the Bucs. Known for his positivity, sociability, and witty storytelling, Charles always had a big story to share.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Jay and Joe Glass. Charles leaves behind his loving wife, of 49 years, Virginia; sons, Jeff and Jere Glass; daughter Megan (Bert) Race and Amy (Kevin) Wells; sister, Ruth Balogh; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haines City Rotary Club. There will be a private interment at a later date.
