The family of Josephine O. Marquez announces that heaven is rejoicing with her presence. Josephine passed on April 15, 2025 in Chandler, Arizona surrounded by lots of love. She was 89 years old. Josephine was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother.

 

Josephine was born on February 11, 1936 in Guadalupe, Arizona to Jesus Osuna and Manuela Flores Osuna. She was one of 12 children.

 

In her early years she worked in the fields with her older siblings and then at a Fish n Chips owned by her brothers. The work accomplishments she was most proud of was becoming a teacher's aide in the late 1970's and also a receptionist at the town hall in Guadalupe at the age of 72. In 1954 she married the love of her life Genovevo G. Marquez who she would go onto form a big beautiful family with 13 children. They were married 54 years until his passing in 2007.

 

Josephine was a devout Catholic who loved to pray and read the bible. She also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, completing search word puzzles and scratcher lottery tickets. Above all she most enjoyed spending time with her loved ones including her dogs Chukies and Baby. 

 

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 8 of her children (Rey, Jenny, Delia, Benji, Rene, Genovevo Jr., Sarita, and Josie) and 10 of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters Cecilia Marquez-Gonzales, Sonya Marquez-Barron, Senaida Marquez-Dominguez and Diana Marquez-Moreno and one son Marcos A. Marquez. She also leaves behind 32 grand children, 75 great-grandchildren and 17 great great-grandchildren, and one sister Lupe Martinez.

 

Josephine's legacy was one of faith, love, kindness and devotion to God and family. Her love, sense of humor, compassion and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of crossing her path even if just once. She will live on in each and everyone of her family members and all those she loved and whose lives she touched. Her legacy and influence will endure across generations.
