“Hands That Welcomed Life”
Douglas Charles Hall, MD, 84, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on April 23, 2025, at 3:43 p.m. He was born on January 30, 1941, at 8:45 a.m. in Indianapolis City Hospital, Indiana, the son of the late Marion Hall and Jessie Wilson..
Douglas proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Air Force Medical Corps. He later attended the University of Florida, where he earned his medical degree with a specialty in obstetrics and gynecology. Following his studies, he moved to Ocala, Florida, where he established a long and respected medical practice.
In 2006, Douglas married the love of his life, Sarah Hall. Together, they shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
A pioneer in the field of functional medicine, Douglas dedicated his life to healing others and sharing his knowledge and passion for medicine with his patients and fellow practitioners. He was a beloved figure in the Ocala medical community and was known nationally for his groundbreaking work in labor and delivery. He lectured across the country, published numerous papers in medical journals, authored a book, and appeared on major television networks to share his visionary ideas for reducing pain during childbirth. Among his proudest achievements was delivering 10,860 babies — including four of his own grandchildren.
Douglas was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church and a passionate advocate for community health.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; his children, Tammie (Sonny), J.D. (Mary), Jason (Kelly), Josh (Carin), and Megan; and 13 cherished grandchildren: Kyle, Allie, Kristina, Will, Hudson, Alexis, Avery, Christopher, Mikah, Jackson, Brynaiya, Bridger, and Reese. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Corbin, Carson, and Caiden.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 30, 2025 at 1pm. at St. Paul’s Methodist Church (800 S.E. 41st Ave.), Ocala, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dr. Douglas Hall may be made to The Institute for Functional Medicine — supporting root-cause medicine and the training of future healers — or Every Mother Counts, advancing maternal health worldwide.
