Harriette Friend Barnes
April 12, 1934 – April 7, 2025 Harriette Friend Barnes passed away April 7, 2025. She was born April 12, 1934 in Freeport, IL. to Lawrence and Hazel Marteney Brown of Polo, IL. She attended eight years at Lae Bridge Grade School, a little one room country school on White Pines Road between Polo and Oregon, IL. She graduated Mount Morris High School class of 1952.
She married Ronald Barnes of Polo in 1960. He died in 2001. She then married Frank Friend in 2003. He died in 2006. She then moved to Loveland, CO to be close to family. She was a lover of all small children, cats, popcorn, Cherry Coke and all things pageantry, from the Olympics to Royal Weddings.
She was predeceased by her parents and infant twin sons. Survived by three sons – Jeff (Jane Smith) Barnes of Loveland, Brad Barnes of Hales Corners, WI and John (Patricia) Barnes of Warner Robbins, GA, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NOCO Humane. Celebration of life service June 20, 2025, 2:00 PM at Foothills Unitarian Church, Fort Collins, Co.
