Herbert Walter Cook, Jr.

Cook, Herbert Walter Jr. of St. Paul. Age 95. Born on May 20 1929, died on May 1, 2025. Herb and his beloved wife Dorothy (nee Bisciglia) would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 11. Survived by his 8 children, Andrew (Nancy), Marie (Keith Mason), Michael (Julie), Sylvia, Julie (Thomas McBride), Lucy (Thomas Sullivan), Katie (Michael Cronin), Alison (Patrick Summers); 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Cook, brother Roger (Janette), sister-in-law Mary Jo Moening, and brother-in-law Deacon Robert Bisciglia (Anne). Preceded in death by parents Herbert and Irene, sister Mary Edith Kaiser and infant son David.
Herb was a proud graduate of Cretin High School, class of 1947 and a 76-year member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Local 1 MN/ND/SD. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on February 9, 1951, and stationed at Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA. After retirement from bricklaying in December 1995, Herb served throughout 22 sessions in the Minnesota Senate and retired from his sergeant-at-arms position on the last day of the session, May 20, 2019, his 90th birthday. Herb’s pride and joy was his large family, his work and his unceasing Catholic Faith.
Visitation will be held at Assumption Catholic Church, 51 West 7th St., St. Paul on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4-8pm. Casinos will lead the Rosary at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10 am at the church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
Memorials preferred to Cretin Derham Hall or Church of the Assumption St. Paul.
