Duff Otis Clingman
April 20th, 1955 - January 10th, 2015
Duff Otis Clingman passed away January 10, 2015 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma, a bone marrow cancer. He was 59. Duff was born in 1955 in Eugene, Oregon to Patricia Clingman and the late "Bo" Otis Clingman, Jr. He moved with his family to Gresham, Oregon at age 13. He was an accomplished athlete at Gresham High School in football, baseball, and wrestling. He also played trumpet in high school stage band and with the Mt. Hood Jazz Band. He played baseball for Portland State University and studied Tae Kwan Do under the late world-renowned Grand Master Choi, earning his black belt and competing in the Pan American Games in this sport in the mid-1970's, as well as many tournaments during the 1970's through the 1990's. He also was an accomplished scuba diver who dove in many waters and searched for ship wreck relics world-wide with his father. Duff was a talented jazz trumpeter and wonderful jazz vocalist. He founded a jazz ensemble, Live Jazz Project, and enjoyed playing many small venues and private events around the Portland area. Duff graduated from Portland State University with an MSW and LCSW and worked most recently as a medical social worker at OHSU in the Emergency Department, Trauma ICU, and adult Oncology for several years. His earlier work history included psychotherapy at Providence Hospital and in private practice and also a stint in Real Estate sales. Duff's amazing warmth, encouragement, and humor touched all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife Annie, son Riley, mother Patricia (Patsy), sister Robin Drews, and sister Jill Peterson. He also was loved and is missed by many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Service Information

At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
