Arthur “Art” FarverMay 12, 1939 – May 5, 2025
Arthur Farver, affectionately known as “Bud” to his family, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, just a week shy of his 86th birthday. He died at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida, following a brief illness.
Art was born at home in Quanicassee, Michigan, on May 12, 1939, to Esther F. (Haske) Farver and Arthur H. Farver. After graduating from high school, he attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1959 at the age of 19. During his service, he repaired weather equipment at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and was honorably discharged in 1963.
He later pursued studies in history and special education at Sacramento State College in California and spent most of his professional career as a civilian employee for the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. After retiring in 1995, Art moved to Palm Bay, Florida, where he enjoyed the sunshine and a quieter pace of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers: Richard, Donald, and Robert. He is survived by his daughters, Holly and Julia Farver; his grandchildren, Sam and Isaac Martin, and Raen and Morella Ridgway; and his son-in-law, Christopher Ridgway.
Art was deeply loved by his neighbors in both Palm Bay, Florida, and Amesville, Ohio, where he spent many summers surrounded by friends and family. He had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and found joy in fishing and walking the trails at Turkey Creek Sanctuary. A natural gardener, Art had a talent for growing just about anything. He also had a passion for photography, a love of jazz and country music, and a sweet tooth—especially for butter pecan ice cream. Many of these interests were joyfully shared with and passed down to his children and grandchildren. A familiar and friendly presence in his neighborhood, Art was often seen out on his daily walks with his devoted dog, Tracker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Palm Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of Art’s favorite places: Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay (www.turkeycreek.org). The family extends heartfelt thanks to Art’s friends and neighbors for the care, friendship, and kindness they shared with him.
