Peyton Carlton (Mac) McFarland, 92, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away May 9, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born on November 22, 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Wade and Madge (Lamb) McFarland.

After graduating with a theatre degree from Memphis State University, Mac was commissioned in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force he worked for the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity. In his spare-time he enjoyed acting and directing in community theatre for many years. In recent years he was an avid fan of the Lady Gamecocks.

Peyton is survived by children, Peyton C. McFarland, Jr., Dana McFarland Schlarb (John), and Bradley McFarland; step-daughter, Deborah M. Ohlsson (Dana); 4 grandchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy M. McFarland.

The family will have a private graveside service.
