Mary Alexandra Dahl-Holt, 77, passed away, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, with loved ones by her side. Mary was born on September 29, 1947, to Charlie and Mary Dahl of Grand Portage, Minnesota.

 

She grew up on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior, with many adventures and stories to be passed on for generations. She especially enjoyed playing guitar and singing with her siblings. Mary graduated from Cook County High School and attended Mt. Rose Church with her family.

 

In her young adult life, she traveled to the East Coast, living in New York and Connecticut, and eventually making her way back home to Minnesota to be near her mother and raise her family. She was employed at Chris Jensen Nursing Home in Duluth, helping the elderly for many years. Later she would settle in Cloquet where she worked as a family resource specialist at Fond du Lac’s HeadStart program and was a proud Foster Mom to many children. She loved them like her own and her door was always open. Mary enjoyed cooking and family time. She especially loved being a grandmother, Mary was full of love and a woman of great faith.

 

Mary is proceeded in death by her parents; siblings, Edward (Veronica) Olson, and Lillian Deschampe, Russel Dahl, and her first born son Richard.

 

Mary is survived by her husband Donald Holt; son Michael Dantes, daughters, Sandra Dantes and Rosalee Dahl; her grandchildren, Blaine, Taylor, and Bianca Rose; Great-Grandchildren, Rowen and Theo; siblings, Elsie (Ted) Smith, Irene (Bud) Carnegie, Fred (Elaine) Olson, Carl (Rita) Dahl, Arvid (Patricia) Dahl, Larry (Rita) Dahl, and Ronald (Terri) Dahl; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2025, at 1 PM at Journey Christian Church, 1400 Washington Avenue, Cloquet, MN.
