Irma V. Knapp, a prominent community leader in Oak Grove, passed peacefully from a sudden illness. Irma was born in Carson North Dakota, moved to Oregon and graduated from Forest Grove High School at age 16. She was married to James N. Knapp for 62 years and had four children. Irma's passion was leadership and dedication to the community for over 60 years. Irma was leader of the Girl Scouts. She was president of the PTA and Oak Grove Garden Club, chairman of the Oak Grove School Board and Clackamas County Parks. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, Al Kader Shriners, Milwaukie Elks and Oak Grove Methodist Church Jim and Irma were instrumental in the development of the now historic landmark, Risley Landing Gardens. on the Willamette River and accepted the Clackamas Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award for the garden clup. This Park was Irma's labor of love for the last 30 years. Irma was the recipient of the Kiwanis "Bullfrog Award" for her humble diligence serving the community. Irma was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Itschner; and husband, James She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Castleberry Trotman and Patricia A. Knapp; son James Knapp Jr; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Remembrances may be made to the Oak Grove Garden Club-Risley Landing Gardens (non-profit) Service Information
