Vicki Mays passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at VA Baptist Specialty Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Jimmie and Hilda Whittaker and was survived by her husband, Rev. Dwight Mays, to whom she was married for twenty-three years. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Janet Whittaker, of Roanoke, a younger brother, John Hunter Whittaker, of Glade Hill, nephews and nieces and dear friends.
The kindness of her Peakland Baptist Church family and close neighbors, Jimmy and Donna Shields, are especially appreciated, as we also thank Jennifer Carson, her dearest friend.
A worship celebration of life is planned for Friday, May 23rd at 11am at Peakland Baptist Church (4018 Peakland Place, Lynchburg, VA), with Rev. Dr. Martha Kearse officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 am in the church parlor. Interment will follow at 2pm at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
