In Loving Memory
A Devoted Husband, Loving Father, and a Super Papa
With hearts full of sorrow and love, the family of Ray Brazier announces his passing on May 17, 2025. Born October 14, 1958, Ray was a man whose life was defined by love—love for his family, for his work, for the road ahead, and for the simple joys that made every day worth living.
Ray was the heartbeat of his home. He shared 37 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, and together they built a home full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He loved his wife unconditionally, and she loved him unconditionally. They had a bond that stood the test of time—gentle, strong, and full of grace.
Ray’s faith was the foundation of who he was. He was a man who loved God deeply and quietly lived out that faith through kindness, humility, and service to others. His strength and steady spirit were grounded in that relationship with the Lord, and he passed those values on to his children and grandchildren not just in words, but through the way he lived his life every single day.
Ray was a proud and loving father to five children: Cliff Brazier, Carrie Brazier, Gene Brazier (Dani), Albert Ray Brazier (Jamie), and Heather Rexford (Jonathan). He raised his children with strength, endless love, and always there with open arms and a steady hand. Every moment he spent with them, working side by side, or casting a fishing line—was a moment he treasured.
Ray was also a Super Papa to his grandchildren, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by their laughter. He loved them beyond measure and gave them memories that will forever live in their hearts—memories of hugs, stories, fishing trips, and beach vacations.
Ray made his living as a truck driver, and the open road was like a second home. He also found joy working in the boat business—building, repairing, and hauling boats across the country. Whether on the road or by the water, he took pride in every mile, every detail, and every job done well.
Ray looked forward to his morning breakfast with his brother—a tradition that brought comfort and connection. In his free time, he loved fishing with his children, especially saltwater fishing. He was always chasing that perfect spot to catch the BIG One, but in truth, it was the time spent together that mattered most.
Ray also enjoyed taking drives through the mountains with his daughter in search of the best-tasting apple cider, just for the fun of the journey. That’s who Ray was—someone who could turn the ordinary into something meaningful and memorable. His favorite saying was, “It ain’t nothing but a thing,” a phrase that captured his calm spirit, good humor, and deep faith that things would be okay.
Ray leaves behind his beloved wife, his five children, and a proud legacy of grandchildren who adored their Papa. He is also survived by a host of loving sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family along the way. Ray was predeceased by his parents, brother and nieces and nephews.
A huge piece of our hearts is broken, but the love Ray gave us will forever be our strength. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a legacy that will live on through each of us. We will carry him with us—in every sunrise over the water, every winding road, every quiet morning, and every deep, abiding act of love.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, who are graciously caring for the Brazier family during this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will take place at West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Pastor Bill Harmon.
