Loved Ones

Today, we honor the beautiful life of Dorothea Mary McIntyre, a woman whose life was a testament to faith, strength and unconditional love.

Dottie was born on November 28, 1934 to Maurette L Brown and Eloise Shaw Brown. From the very beginning, she carried with her a quiet strength and a heart full of grace – qualities that would go on to define her life.

She worked for many years as a switchboard operator at Cheshire Hospital, a job she took pride in and where she later retired. But her greatest work, the one that meant the most to her was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dottie had six children whom she loved with every fiber of her being. Her love only grew as her family expanded – she absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by family, especially little ones. Her love for babies and children was boundless, and she had a special way of making every child feel seen, safe and cherished.

Dottie spent much of her life in Melbourne, Florida where she created a warm and welcoming home filled with faith and laughter. She was a woman of many talent and quiet joys. She loved doing puzzles, sewing, knitting, and embroidery – each stich and piece placed with the same care and patience she showed in all areas of her life. These hobbies weren’t just pastimes – they were expressions of her love, often shared with those she held dear.

Above all, Dottie was a fighter. She faced life’s hardships with unmatched courage and resilience. Even in the most difficult times, she wore a radiant smile – one that could light up a room and bring peace to those around her. Her strength was unshakable, her love unwavering, and her faith unbreakable.

Dottie leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and an enduring faith in God. While we mourn her passing, we also rejoice knowing she is now resting in the eternal embrace of the Lord she so dearly loved.

She is survived by her siblings: Jimmy Brown, Jr Brown and Linda Bolduc, her children: Kathy Young, Jennifer Clendenin, Cheri Dvilinsky, Jay McIntyre, Margaret Bowen, her grandchildren: Ericka Kilelee, Christopher Rogers, Ariel Carr, Faith Adorno, Justin McIntyre, Sean Verrando, Nicholas Stone, Taylor Ball, Mckylie Voss, Daniel Bowen, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is preceded by her parents, Maurette and Eloise Brown, her siblings Barbara Brown and Keith Brown, her son Thomas McIntyre and her grandson Spenser Bowen.

We will miss you, Dottie. Your smile, your spirit, your songs – all live one in our heart of those who you loved. Thank you for the life you lived and the love you gave so freely.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Dottie’s memory by sharing a moment with a loved one, listening to a favorite hymn, or simply offering kindness to someone in need – just as she did every day.
