EUGENE R. DABEL passed away at Rainbow Community Center on May 23, 2025.  Eugene was born on May 15, 1946 to Ralph Dabel and Virginia (Grant) Dabel Wendt.

Eugene was stationed in Vietnam.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds incurred while serving.  Eugene worked at Borg Textile and RediServ/OSI.  He often said work was his hobby.  He retired at 73 due to his health issues.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Paula (Schryer) Dabel.  Eugene adored his son, Paul, special daughter-in-law, Kim and his very special grandson, Merrick.  Eugene is further survived by his Aunt Joan Grant, her children Steve Grant, Cheryl & Bob Marshall and their children, Christopher & Zachary Marshall.  He also leaves behind his brother, Dennis (Maria), his sisters Lois Dehnert and Betty (Jim) Elgas.  Eugene cared deeply for his twelve nieces & nephews and their families.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Roger, his brother-in-law Edward Dehnert and many other relatives.

A special thank you to Rainbow Community Center and his very special caregiver and niece, Julie Hesse.

Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson

We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
