Yeatts Mewborne Jones
September 27th, 1969 - May 24th, 2025
Yeatts Mewborne Jones of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, on a scuba diving vacation in Monterey, California, at the age of 55. He was born September 27, 1969, in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Hampton Roads Academy and obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Washington and Lee University.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jonzennie Mewborne Jones, and his father, Ray Yeatts Jones.
Yeatts is survived by his wife, Susan Marie Woody, and brother Robert Bruce Jones and nieces Merritt Frances Jones and Lydia May Jones of Newport News, Virginia. He also leaves behind many in-laws including his siblings-in-law Deanna McCabe, Bill Woody, Beth Woody, Michael Woody and Mark Woody, and nieces/nephews Brandon McCabe, Mason McCabe, Allison McCabe, Kendall Woody, Jordan Woody, Mathew Woody, Jonathan Woody and Emily Woody of Alabama.
After graduation, he moved to the Washington DC metro area and worked for US News and World Report for more than fifteen years before working for Phase One Consulting, PWC and most recently, Accenture Federal Services.
Yeatts was an avid scuba diver and had experienced diving all over the world from his favorite spot in Nosy Sakatia, Madagascar to the cold waters above the Arctic Circle in Norway. He enjoyed sharing his videos and photos of sea animals, including the tiniest nudibranchs. Yeatts loved traveling around the world with his wife and entertaining friends and family at the beach. His perfect day included a bowl of Vietnamese Pho soup and playing with his dogs, Caico and Sadie Mae on a sunny beach.
