Myong Cha "Christine" Middleton

With heavy hearts and great love, we announce the passing of Myong Cha Middleton — a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend — who passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83.

Myong Cha was born on February 19, 1942, in Seoul, Korea, where she would later meet her adoring husband, Herbert Middleton. They shared a remarkable life, beginning with passion, bravery, and unwavering love. Nothing could separate the two; In the face of adversity and cultural barriers, they held each other and vowed never to let go. She returned with Herbert to the United States, where they created a loving foundation for their family. Married 57 years, Myong Cha and Herbert built a life of gratitude, resilience, patience, and cherished memories.

Myong Cha’s strength and dedication were the foundations of her home. She faced every challenge with grace and gave endlessly without expecting anything in return. She was a woman of quiet resilience, generous spirit, and deep devotion. Her love was expressed through her compassion and respect for others; she offered kindness and friendship to both loved ones and strangers alike. Her vegetable garden and beautiful flowers reflected the beauty of her spirit; she tended to her fruit trees and plants every day with her loving husband, showing the same love and patience she gave to her loved ones. Myong Cha was known for her generosity and motherly love, making sure that no one who entered her home would leave hungry. Her oriental cooking style – especially her delicious kimchi – was enjoyed by all who had the privilege of eating at her table.

She departed from her beloved husband, Herbert; her two daughters, Jackey and Jacqueline; and her four grandchildren, Emma, Forrest, Alyssa, and Ashley. Myong Cha left this world as gently as she lived in it — peacefully, surrounded by love, and forever in our hearts. She will be dearly missed.
