In Loving Memory

Linda Cooper Nunn, born on April 8, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina, was the daughter of Elliott Otto Cooper and Mildred Pearre Cooper (Fowler). She graduated from Winthrop College in 1969 and dedicated many years to education as an elementary school teacher and advisor. In 1970, she married Sonny Nunn, and together they raised their son, Jay, in Columbia. Linda adored her two grandsons, James and Ford, who were the light of her life. Her face always lit up when they walked into the room. She cherished every moment spent with them and took great joy in spoiling them.

Linda loved the beach and treasured time spent with her friends. Even as her health declined in recent years, she never lost her sense of humor and remained deeply grateful for the love and support of her family and friends. We take comfort in knowing that her body is now healed and imagine her sitting on the beach with a glass of wine, surrounded by friends.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Sonny Nunn; their son, Jay (Christy); her beloved grandsons, James and Ford; and Christy’s children, Madeline and Carter. She is also survived by her brother, Elliott Cooper (Jean), and their daughters Cindy, Allison, and Jill; and by her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Haselden, and her sons, Trace and Hal.

A visitation in Linda’s honor will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, at Thompson Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park at noon.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to SC House Calls (Joy Jones), Tye Ferguson, Gail Waliyy, and everyone at For Life Medical Transport for their compassion and care.  A special thanks to Leigh Shrout for her guidance and support over the years.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
