Willwerscheid Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Grand Avenue
Marcia Burke
September 27th, 1939 - June 2nd, 2025
Marcia Ann Burke, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. A longtime resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, Marcia was known for her kindness, independent spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her professional life was spent in Human Services with Ramsey County, driven by a profound commitment to helping others.
Marcia is lovingly remembered by her children: Talya Lipshutz (Jonathon), Thomas Burke (Amy), Paul Burke (Carolyn), and Brad Burke (Kathryn). She was a proud grandmother to Talya's children—Chava, Michal, Shira, Yaakov, Ephraim, Sara, Batsheva, and Yitzchak; Thomas' daughter, Sonja; Paul's sons, Benjamin and William; and Brad's children, Sean and Molly.
She is also survived by her siblings: Darlene, Frank, Kathleen, Daniel, Mary, and Joseph. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Anna Olchefske.
A woman of depth and substance, Marcia cherished her hometown of St. Paul. Her love of classical music led her to frequent performances by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Her dedication to the city extended to giving tours at the Landmark Center and cheering on the Minnesota Wild at hockey games with her sons and grandchildren.
Marcia's life was marked by service to others. She built lasting friendships with international students from Macalester College, offering guidance, hospitality, and genuine care that left a lasting impression on those far from home.
In her role as a program coordinator for the International Au Pair program, Marcia supported young women from around the world as they navigated cultural exchange and childcare in the U.S. She also assisted American host families through the challenges of cross-cultural living. On many occasions, she welcomed au pairs into her own home during times of transition, providing them a safe and nurturing place to stay.
A passionate traveler, Marcia enjoyed exploring Europe and cherished her visits to visit her grandchildren in Israel.
She touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, at 3:00 PM at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Avenue, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Landmark Center in St. Paul.
