Vietnam Army Veteran, First Calvary Division – February 5, 1969- February 4, 1971

John Louis Mastromarino, also known as Johnny, was born in New Rochelle, NY.  He was the loving son of Louis and Edith Mastromarino (Frusciante). The loving husband of Noreen McNicholas, the loving father of Laurie Mastromarino, and the loving sibling of Adele Ranellone (Mastromarino) and Richard (Rick) Mastromarino. His first wife, Claudia Mastromarino (Wallace), was a loving mother to Laurie and predeceased him. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Ronald (Ron) Ranellone, his mother-in-law, Mary McNicholas, sister-in-law, Theresa McNicholas, and brothers-in-law, Walter and Kenneth McNicholas. His brother-in-law, Ronnie Gallicano, predeceased him. He was a wonderful uncle to Ronnie Gallicano, Jr., and Cheryl Lawer (Gallicano) and a loving great uncle to Madison Lawer, her husband, Martin Hughes, Jessica and Lauren Lawer, and Joseph Gallicano.

Johnny had a huge family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him. They cherished him, and so did he. He had so many wonderful friends.

His occupation at Outfront Media was his day job, but his part-time job for more than three decades as a bartender at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, NY, was his identity. All the club members gravitated toward Johnny for a good story and a strong cocktail. He was a character who always wanted to have a good time with the people he loved, especially his “sissy” Adele, who he followed around as a kid. His love for his daughter Laurie, was endless. Living on opposite sides of the country, he spoke to her daily and sent her cards with a $2 bill. He loved $2 bills. Aside from traveling, his favorite thing to do with his wife, Noreen, was to watch and play Jeopardy, Blue Bloods, the New York Yankees, or dine at his favorite Italian restaurants.

Johnny lived in New Rochelle most of his life until he moved with his wife, Noreen, to Stamford, CT, for 16 years. He had wonderful friends and neighbors there. For the past three years, he has lived in sunny Florida with Noreen at a wonderful place, the Floridian Club of Sarasota, where everyone knew who Johnny was because he was always at the pool working on his tan or in the clubhouse beating someone at pool.

He was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country bravely and with honor. He loved the beach, the New York Yankees, bowling, the Young & the Restless TV show, the classic Ten Commandments movie, and traveling. If you met Johnny once, you would remember him. He brought a smile to everyone's face. Raise a glass in his memory. His favorites were Grand Marnier and a cold Heineken.

Johnny will rest in peace at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In his memory, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in remembrance of all the other heroes.
