Vincent Raymond Sites
February 10, 1943 – June 6, 2025
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Raymond Sites (Vince) of Venice, Florida. Vince was 82 years old and after a brief illness, passed away peacefully at the Tidewell Hospice Care Center at Village on the Isle in Venice, Florida.
Vince was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He shared 21 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Jennifer S. Sites. He was the proud and loving father to his son, Dr. Brian D. Sites (wife Tricia H. Sites) of Plainfield, NH and his daughter Jennifer L. Hastings (husband Kirk C. Hastings) of Baltimore, MD. He has six grandchildren that brought him great happiness: Matthew V. Sites, Rachel H. Sites, Molly C. Sites, Vincent J. Sites, Bryan K. Hastings and Connor T. Hastings. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Joanne R. Spring of Venice, FL and two brothers in law, Charles F. Spring (wife Terri G.) of Salem, VA and Dana F. Spring of Quincy MA. He was predeceased by his parents Vincent G. Sites and Sophie P. Sites, his father-in-law C. Frederick Spring of Pembroke, MA, and his former wife and mother of his children, Judy G. Sites.
Vince was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and later moved with his parents at age 8 to Miami, FL. After graduating from high school in Miami, he then attended John Hopkins University and Dartmouth and Harvard Medical Schools. He served in the Public Health Service after his internship and then completed a Harvard University Radiology Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He had a long and fulfilling career as a radiologist for many years at Symmes Hospital in Arlington, MA and then later at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He retired from Lahey Clinic in the distinguished position of Chairman of the Radiology Department and was responsible for the advancement, growth and development of the department during a challenging time. He thoroughly enjoyed practicing radiology and was loved by colleagues, staff and patients alike for his incisive diagnostic skills and compassionate patient care.
Vince was an avid outdoorsman. He was a skilled sailor and had many wonderful sailing adventures both in New England and in the British Virgin Islands. He loved to hunt and fish and spent much time hunting in New Hampshire with his son Brian, and great times boating and fishing on the ocean both in Maine, and in Florida. He shared many memorable father/daughter sailing trips to the islands with his daughter Jennifer, and also later captained catamaran sailing adventures in the BVI with his wife Jennifer and their special group of sailing friends.
He was interested in so many subjects and was a voracious reader. He particularly enjoyed history, politics, science and nature. He had a great love of all animals and in particular, all of his rescue dogs that he held such tremendous affection for throughout his life. He was fascinated by the Universe and enjoyed studying the stars at night. He enjoyed reading his bible everyday and had a deep faith in God. The quote “We were born of stars and in death we will return to them” expresses his philosophy of how God and the Universe are absolutely intertwined.
Vince was loved by all who knew him for the amazing man that he was and those who knew him feel truly blessed. May he rest in peace for all eternity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Grace United Methodist church, 400 Field Avenue East in Venice, Florida 34285. Burial will be private.
