In Loving Memory
Charles Allen Phillips died peacefully at his home in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, June 5, 2025 in a moment filled with calmness, gratitude and an abundance of love. Charles was born in Columbia, SC on December 5, 1962 to the late Codie Odell Phillips and Ruth Oimoen Phillips. Charles was the beloved son and the seventh child born of ten children in a close-knit and devoted family. Charles had a deep love for his family that remained with him throughout his entire life.
A proud uncle to all of his nieces and nephews, Charles enjoyed spending quality time with them. Countless fishing trips, a deep love of gardening and the simple pleasures of learning from mother nature filled his days. His family members were influenced deeply by him, and the fond memories will be in our hearts forever. His passing leaves an immense hole in the hearts of all who knew him. His innumerable friends were impeccable during his illness, showing such love, kindness and devotion to him.
Charles is survived by brother Craig Phillips (Sherri) of Springfield, OR and sisters Deborah Phillips Oliver, Leslie Phillips Wallace (Joel) and Barbara Phillips Pietras (Thomas) all of Columbia, SC. He was preceded in death by his brothers David Scott, Richard Mark, Thomas Craig and Bryan James as well as his sister Diane Phillips Gasque. Charles served in the United States Army for six years of which he was stationed in Ft Ord, California and Ansbach, Germany. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2018 after 32 years of service.
His family would like to thank Dr. Justin Low and his team at Duke Cancer Center Brain Tumor Clinic in Durham, NC for their efforts and diligent care during his battle with glioblastoma.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 with Chaplain Jude Peck officiating.
