Luis Ramon Velasquez, 74, of Gilbert, Arizona passed away peacefully at his home on Monday June 2, 2025, with his family by his side. Luis was born in Mesa on February 1951 to Ernesto and Rosa (Coronado) Velasquez.Luis is survived by his wife Cathy, his son Luis Anthony, stepdaughter Vianitta, 2 Granddaughters, 8 step- grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jenny, brother Abe (Julie) and nieces and nephews. Luis is preceded in death by his dad Ernesto, Mom Rosa and his brother Ernie.
Louie, Big Lou, and Scoop and also my (Luz) are nick names from many of his friends. Luis attended Queen of Peace Catholic School 1-8 grades and Mesa High School where he played football and baseball. Luis proudly served Louie served in the Army. Luis worked and Retired from City of Mesa after 30 years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 20, 2025, at 11:00 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 141 N. Macdonald St., Mesa, AZ 85201. Private burial will be held at Mesa City Cemetery at a later date.
