Marion Alice (Utech) Corrigan, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home (801 14th St, Cloquet, MN 55720), with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home, and interment will take place at New Calvary Cemetery in Cloquet. Arrangements are entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
Born on October 2, 1934, in Cloquet to Paul and Mabel (Irish) Utech, Marion was the youngest of seven children. She graduated with the Cloquet High School Class of 1952, where she was a spirited cheerleader and an active member of the pep squad. She had a passion for theater, contributing off-stage through set design and makeup.
After high school, Marion explored new places before returning home, where she met John Corrigan, her future husband who lived just around the corner. Their love story spanned ten years of courtship while she worked at Northwest Paper, before they married in 1963. Together, they built a life and raised two children.
In the mid-1980s, Marion resumed work with Conwed and USG. A dedicated member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, she served faithfully—teaching Bible school for over a decade, singing in the choir, and managing the weekly billboard display.
Marion had a keen eye for fashion and a talent for interior design, once even considering opening her own space. She and John cherished time at their lake home, hosting family and friends with warmth and joy. Planning, hosting, and preparing for the next party brought her great happiness.
As life and friendships evolved, her gatherings transformed into travel adventures. She and John visited Gull Lake, Door County, Lake of the Ozarks, and Branson, later expanding their journeys to Sedona, Sun City, Las Vegas, and a Virgin Islands cruise.
Marion is survived by her son, Todd (Michelle) Corrigan; daughter, Gwen Corrigan; grandchildren, Josh Moynan, Alex Johnson, Connor Corrigan, and Casey Corrigan; brother-in-law, George Larry Anderson; and her dearest lifelong friend, Beatta Hillman. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mabel (Irish); husband, John; brothers, Herb (Mickey), Norman (Aune), and Paul Utech; and sisters, Bernice "Bunny" (Kermit) Hawkinson, Bertha Shunn, and Lorraine Anderson.
Marion lived a life full of love, laughter, and celebration, leaving behind beautiful memories for those who knew her.
