Laverne Ronkainen, 91, of Cloquet died Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Diamond Willow Homes in Cloquet.
Laverne Lillian Rengo was born in Floodwood, MN on August 9, 1933 to Gust and Lillian (Nasi) Rengo.
She married Gerald Ronkainen on May 7, 1955 in Duluth. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Laverne worked in the insurance industry for many years.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; grandson Adam and her three siblings.
Laverne is survived by her sons, James (Diane) of Hodgenville, KY and David (Tammy) of Carlton; grandchildren, Millie (Houston) Babbs, John (Madeline), Anna, Monica, Tom, Daniel, Peter, Timothy (Kim) , Matthew, Joshua, Eli (Kaitlyn), Seth (Zoe), Abigail, Luke, Isaiah, Rebekah, and Elizabeth Ronkainen; 6 great grandchildren; in-laws, Karen Lund and John Raiha; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:30AM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 18th Street and Wilson Avenue, Cloquet. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Kettle River. The family requests no flowers, direct donations instead to St. Paul’s Lutheran Wee Care Sewers or the Lake Superior Life Care Center. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home-Cloquet.
