Chrystal Ann Gallups
August 7th, 1933 - June 20th, 2025
With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Chrystal Ann Gallups, who departed this earthly journey to rest in the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the age of 91.
Chrystal was born to Mervin & Kate Hodges in Hagarville, Arkansas. She married John Robert Gallups, a faithful Minister, and together they shared a life grounded in Faith, Love and Service. Chrystal was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Professionally, Chrystal began her career as a Registered Nurse. She became the Director of Nursing at Lake City Community College, where, her compassionate leadership touched the lives of peers, students, and their families alike. Her commitment to nursing education, high standards, wisdom, and compassion left a lasting legacy in the lives of those she taught & served.
Even in retirement, she combined her heart for service and passion for missions, & found deep fulfillment traveling with the Macedonian Medical team providing hope, healing and care around the world. These mission trips were a true reflection of her selfless spirit and dedication to healing both spiritually and physically.
Chrystal was lovingly referred to like the southern Kudzu vine-resilient, overreaching and firmly rooted in her Faith, and the hearts of those around her. She had a way of growing into people lives, quietly but powerfully wrapping them in love, strength and grace. Chrystal’s care and influence stretched far and wide-weaving through hospitals, mission fields, church pews and speaking engagements. Her laughter, wisdom and nurturing spirit were impossible to ignore and unforgettable once known.
Chrystal is preceded in death by her parents Mervin and Kate Hodges, Her husband John Robert Gallups, Her brother John Neal Hodges, Her sister Jerry Dean Gould.
She is survived by her Children Deana Hughey (Marshall) Ormond Beach Leigh Gallups, Ocala her Foster Son Jon Perea (Yulyia). Kazakstan. Her Grandchildren Jennifer Leja (Brad) Keri Hare ( Branden) Devin Pemberton (Chad) Brianna Perea, Ryan Perea, Kai Perea, Robbie Delli-Veneri. Her Great Grands Emory Leja, Amber Leja, Naomi Leja, Blake Hare, Ansley Hare, Isaiah Pemberton, Amelia Pemberton, her Sister Betty Ehren and Extend family Denice Delli-Veneri several beloved Nieces and Nephews, and a host of Friends that are like Family.
Remember in happy moments, Praise God. In difficult moments Seek God. In Quiet moments, Listen to God. In Every Moment Be Thankful to God.
