Martha Ann Dodgen

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Martha “Maddie” Dodgen, 77, on June 10, 2025. Maddie, as she preferred to be called, was born in Atlanta, Georgia . She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Dodgen of Huntsville, Alabama.

Maddie was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Athens State University. She began her Civil Service in the Corps of Engineering in Huntsville and continued it at Patrick AFB when she moved to Melbourne, Florida in the mid-eighties. Maddie eventually made her retirement home in Sebastian and enjoyed the community there.

Maddie had a big heart and she volunteered her time and energy with many organizations. She became a Team Leader for the Red Cross Disaster Relief, served at several thrift stores, including Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at Indian River Medical Center and supported various animal charities.

She was also a woman of faith. Maddie helped charter The Church at Viera when it first formed in Suntree. She also served many years with the coffee ministry at her current church home, Lakeview Fellowship in Vero Beach.

Maddie was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Mary Fulda. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Wells (Bobby), her son, Jason Redden, her daughter, Victoria Lowery (David), Nieces Jennifer, Allison and Melanie, and Grandchildren Caleigh and Connor.

A celebration of life will be held for all who loved and knew her, at  Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2pm.
