In Loving Memory
Carolyn W. Bowers, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Born on October 10, 1938 to the late Worth and Ruth James Wilson in Charlotte, NC, before relocating to Chester, SC. Carolyn attended Columbia College and later received her master’s in education from the University of South Carolina in 1983. For the next 14 years, Carolyn was a dedicated teacher for Richland County School District Two. Upon retiring in 1997, she spent her days crocheting various items for family and friends. She also enjoyed making jewelry and scrapbooking the many pictures she accumulated of her family. Carolyn was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by her husbands: David L. Isaacs, Sr. and Fred M. Bowers; and daughter in-law Angel C. Isaacs. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Bonnie W. Lutz of Columbia, SC; her sons, David L. Isaacs Jr. (Lisa), Steven O. Isaacs, and Edward R. Isaacs (Beth) all of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mindy L. & Jamie R. Isaacs both of Columbia, SC; Russell C. Isaacs of Parkton, NC, & Grace E. Isaacs of Columbia, SC; step-grandchildren: Jacob B. Koele (Jade) of Darlington, SC & Sydney K. Morris (Georgia) of Timmonsville, SC and step-great grandchild Daniel “Grayson” Koele. The family wishes to thank the following: the care team members of MUSC Health Downtown Columbia and Stephanie Graham for providing care and comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Carolyn to the Todd Lutz Scholarship Fund at Bethel United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A visitation will be held for Carolyn on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home located at 845 Leesburg Rd. Service to be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church, 4600 Daniel Dr., followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery.
