Obituary Notice of Judy Pavina
Judy Pavina passed away on June 19, 2025, at home, after a brave battle with cancer that spanned nineteen years.
She was born in Claymont, Delaware on October 6, 1954, and was the second oldest of seven children. She attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and is a 1972 graduate of Claymont High School. After working for a short period of time at the Consolidated Rail Corporation in Philadelphia, Judy decided to move west and never looked back. She moved to the Monterey Peninsula, fell in love with the lifestyle of California, and chose to go back to school to receive her undergraduate degree in Computer Science while working a full time job.
After receiving her bachelor’s she became a consultant, and soon afterward accepted a position with the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center where she worked for twenty-seven years. She retired in 2022 with the title of Information Assurance Manager. Her long career was spent mostly in information technology, where she excelled—despite the glass ceiling that many women know so well.
She was a resident of Salinas, California and enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe, the Pacific Coast Highway and Southern California. She made frequent trips back home to Delaware to visit her parents and siblings, and she had a strong interest in photography, gardening, and becoming a professional clown! Everyone in her neighborhood knew that she would hold nothing back when it came to decorating her house for Halloween and Christmas. By adding features each year, the displays became elaborate and often computer controlled. As of now they can still be viewed at jmpliteshow@youtube
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Edna Pavina, and her siblings Nancy and John. She is survived by sisters Kathy Russo (Steve), Teena Ziegler (John), Donna Pavina and brother Ed Pavina (Linda).
A viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary in Monterey on July 9th from 1:00 to 5:00. Address is 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, CA 93940. A Catholic Mass will be held on July 10th at San Carlos Cathedral at 10:00am, followed by a burial at San Carlos Cemetery at noon.

Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Being centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula and adjacent to the San Carlos and Monterey City Cemeteries, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire Monterey Bay Peninsula for many years. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952. While times certainly have changed, Mission Mortuary has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our families....
