Joseph Edward Valdez Sr AKA Joe, born on December 16, 1944, passed away on June 24, 2025.

Born in Denver, Colorado to his parents Candido and Lucille Montoya and his beloved 12 siblings. He was proceeded in death by his grandson Joseph Valdez III. He is survived by his beautiful wife Delia, better known as Dee, whom of which he shared 60 years with along with his children, Gary Perez (Mary Claleson), Shelley Martinez (proceed in death Dean Martinez Sr.), Diana Valdez (Joseph Lopez), and Joseph Valdez Jr. (Yolanda Gutierrez), and his 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  He went to high school at Denver West High School. Then was in the Army during the Vietnam war, he learned many values one being how important family was, and he lived to show that value day in and day out by spending all the time he could with every member of the family. He also worked for the Colorado School of Mines for 32 years until he retired. All the grandchildren as well as great grandchildren loved running into his room to talk his ear off or just simply sit and watch his shows to keep his company. There are many things we can say about Joe but there will never be enough words to describe how much he was loved. He was the best husband, father, and Papo anyone could ever imagine. He was the life of every party and now when we all look up, we’ll all know he’s looking down at us, telling us he loves us and he’s proud of the people we have become. He will always be remembered and loved no matter where we end up. The memorial services will be held at Romero’s Funeral Home on Tuesday July 8, 2025, 1805 S. Sheridan Lakewood, CO 80232. Then to Fort Logan for the procession. We will then head to American Legion Post 17,  1901 N Harlan St, Edgewater, CO 80214 at 2 pm to celebrate the man Joe was.

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen”
