Cody James Hawkes, a beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born on December 8, 1994, in Mesa, Arizona, to James Hawkes and Kim Nestell.

Cody was a proud graduate of Desert Ridge High School, class of 2013, and was in the process of completing his studies in Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America. His dedication to his education reflected his passion and ambition in the realm of jewelry, a field he pursued while working alongside his father at Hawkes & Co. jewelry store. From a young age, Cody displayed a gentle and caring spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support. Known for his mischievous smile, he had a playful yet determined nature. His interests included a love for restoring old cars and trucks, a hobby he cherished spending time with his dad and best friend, Blake. Sundays were a sacred time spent in the garage, where they would work on projects together, often accompanied by Scout, Cody's loyal dog.

Cody’s warmth and loyalty made him a treasured friend to many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cody is survived by his mother, Kim Nestell, and stepfather, Tom Nestell; his father, James Hawkes; his sister, Tia Hawkes Jones, and her husband, Dylan Jones; his fiancé, Jackie Hatton; his cherished Nana, Pearlie (Bobbi) Hawkes, and Grandpa Bob Walker. He also leaves behind his best friend, Blake Lindaman, along with numerous great aunts and cousins who will all miss him dearly. His grandparents, Glen and Margaret Means, and Richard M. Hawkes, predeceased him, leaving a legacy that Cody honored through his caring interactions with family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Cody's life will be held on July 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Meldrum Mortuary, located at 52 N MacDonald, Mesa, AZ 85201. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Family and friends are invited to join in remembering the life of a truly remarkable young man. In the midst of sorrow, we cherish the memories left behind and the impact Cody made on our lives. May he rest in peace.
