John L. Brown November 2, 1969 – June 29, 2025
Fondly known as “Rat Man” to his many friends, John L. Brown passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his home in Glendale, Arizona. He was 55 years old and fully enjoying life.
John was born on November 2, 1969, in Laredo, Texas, to Thomas Edward Brown and Elia Ester Brown-Frias (Carrillo). The youngest of two children, John spent much of his early life traveling due to both parents serving in the military. At age 12, he moved to Germany and later graduated from Bitburg American High School in 1988.
After high school, John briefly served in the U.S. Air Force before returning to the United States, where he worked a variety of jobs. He eventually discovered his passion in the field of Information Technology, ultimately finding his professional home with Cognizant, where he built a meaningful career.
Outside of work, John loved riding his motorcycle, spending time with friends, visiting shooting ranges, and hunting for treasures at thrift stores. He was known for his generous spirit and unwavering willingness to help others—no matter the task. John touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
John is survived by his older brother Thomas E. Brown Jr., sister-in-law Shawnie Brown, nieces Haley and Teagan, and grand-nephew Malcolm. He is also survived by his step-dad Martin Frias, Uncle Rob Asay, Uncle Raul “Bear” Carrillo, Uncle Luis Alberto Carrillo and many, many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Elia Brown, Aunt Virginia Asay, Uncle Victor M. Carrillo, Uncle Juan Jose "Oscar" Carrillo, Aunt Blanca Beatriz Carrillo and Aunt Yolanda Carrillo.
He is also survived by his beloved rats Lucy, Bandita, Lucky Mother, General Zod, and Moon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, 7:00pm, at KJ’s Bar, 5944 W. Bethany Home Rd, Glendale, AZ 85301, where friends and loved ones will gather to honor his memory.
