Louis Paul Meyer passed peacefully with his wife at his side holding his hand in his home on Friday the 27th of June at the age of 93. He was born on June 17, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri to Louis and Gabrilla Meyer. 

 

He was raised in Cornell, Illinois and was the quarterback and punter on his high school football team. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18 and was sent to Seoul Korea during the Korean War from 1951-1952. After returning to the United States he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, in Omaha, Nebraska, where he met his wife, Evelyn. They were married on October 23, 1954, and had three children. He was stationed in Tripoli, Africa, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Galesburg, Illinois, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines and completed his 23 years of service at Norad in Colorado. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 and returned to Norad as a Civil Service member from 1974-1994. After retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and garden, fishing and hunting. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn; his daughter, Anna Marie (David) Diller; his son, Mark Meyer (Kim) and daughter Patricia DeWaard (Dan); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
