Mary Ann Johnson
March 22nd, 1930 - June 27th, 2025
Mary Ann Johnson, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 95. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of Thomas “T.D.” and Hazel Johnson.
A lifelong Portland resident, Mary Ann graduated as valedictorian from Cleveland High School, a reflection of her dedication, intelligence, and tireless work ethic—qualities that would define her throughout her life. She went on to build a successful career as an administrative assistant to the program director at KGW. She also lent her warm, distinctive voice to numerous local and national television commercials as a voiceover artist.
Mary Ann’s love of music was a guiding force in her life. A gifted vocalist, she sang in the choir at Moreland Presbyterian Church for many years, finding joy and spiritual connection through song. Her voice touched many, both in her church and beyond.
Mary Ann will be remembered most for her deep love of family, which was the cornerstone of her life. Generous, kind, compassionate, and unfailingly supportive, she had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and cherished. Whether offering a thoughtful compliment, lending a listening ear, or going the extra mile for someone she cared about, Mary Ann could always be counted on. Her unwavering loyalty and open heart were a source of strength and comfort to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.D. and Hazel Johnson; her sisters, Estelle Cummings and Maxine Johnson; and her brother, Jack Johnson.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving nieces, Julia Ruscitti, Jacqueline Fitchell (Scott), and Cindy Wilson; and her great-niece, Kris Ruscitti, all of whom she adored and supported with all her heart.
Mary Ann’s legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a family and community who are better for having known her and who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
