She had a deep and abiding faith in God.

Virginia Butler went by the nickname, Ginny. She was born on November 16,1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She moved to Orlando, Florida around 1960. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Denise Chappell, and son Michael Bernard Fildes. She has three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved to do sewing and crafts, especially Christmas blankets and quilts. She loved taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening. For the holidays, like the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, she invited family members to the neighborhood community pot luck parties, which everyone enjoyed.   She had a partner of 35 years, Walter Shannon. They loved each other dearly. Sadly, he passed away about a year and a half ago. He would sing 50’s and 60’s love songs to her. They also went to neighborhood dances and danced in the living room.   Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorite holidays. She loved to provide large meals for the family. Some of her favorite dishes were green bean casserole, hard boiled eggs, potato salad, spaghetti with meat sauce and meatloaf.   At age 50, she went back to college to try to get a nursing degree. She successfully completed one year before her health gave out on that career. But, she loved to tell stories about some of her nursing school experiences.   She loved the beach and swimming. She enrolled both her children in swimming lessons.   She lived a long life and loved her family and attended church regularly. She had a deep and abiding faith in God.   A Memorial Service will be held at on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 1:30pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, Florida 34470.
