Patricia A. Blem passed peacefully away at the grand age of 95 surrounded by family. She is once again reunited with the love of her life, Donald. Pat was born in Detroit, MI on February 15, 1930 the second of six girls. She was affectionately referred to as “Scotty”.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents Duncan and Ethel and her five sisters, Helene, Rita, Peggy, Marilyn and Maureen. Pat will be sorely missed by all those whose lives were enriched by having known her, most notably surviving family members: Her daughters Kathleen (John), Susan (David), Carol (Bert), Diane, and Patricia (Brett) and her sons Donald (Lisa) and Thomas (Judy); Her amazing grandchildren Virginia (Ryan), Kenneth (Emily), Jeffrey (Sofia), Emily (Matthew), William, Matthew, Jason (Kellyann), Jillian (Danny), Kyle (Sarah), Jennifer, Haley, Ronald, Thomas, Sean, Devin, Jessa, Mikayla (Justin) and Aaron. Pat was blessed with thirteen great grandchildren: Patrick, Abigail, Duncan, Grant, Poppy, Lucas, Thomas, Calen, Cora, Cian, Caleb, Ashlyn and Jansen. These people were the pride and joy of her life. Her happiest days were welcoming a new baby to the clan. Pat was the backbone of her family, always offering unconditional love and support to all. An avid Catholic, she instilled an everlasting faith in God in her family.

Her infectious smile and welcoming personality made everyone feel a part of the family. Don often told the story of how he first met Pat and was immediately mesmerized by her vivacious smile which could light up a room. Pat enjoyed camping with the family in their Airstream trailer, hosting family get togethers at their cottage in Clear Lake, MI and hosting Northern relatives in her home in Nokomis after moving to Florida. Pat loved entertaining! She kept an open-door policy for all, regardless of where she lived. After retirement, Pat and Don enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home and galivanting through Europe. She met strangers but walked away as a friend.

Pat enjoyed playing golf, tennis and volunteering in her community. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, wrote the prayers of the faithful for Epiphany Cathedral and supported many other charitable causes.

She died a beloved Mother and Grandmother who consistently went above and beyond to help and care for her family however needed. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

A memorial mass for Pat will be held on Friday, July 25th, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 425 South Tamiami Tr, Osprey, FL 34285.
