Lorene Ratliff Wimberly, 90, passed away on July 23, 2025.  She was born on November 28, 1934, to Loren and Ada Ratliff in Citra, Florida.  She grew up in Citra, Florida, and graduated from Ocala High School in 1953.  In 1958, she married William Hoyt Wimberly and moved to Cocoa, Florida.  She worked as a proof operator at Barnett Bank and bank teller at First Union and Wells Fargo, She retired after working in the banking business for 32 years. She loved being with her family during the many holiday and birthday cookouts they had, attending the annual Citra class reunions and getting her hair done every Friday!

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hoyt Wimberly; her parents, Loren and Ada Ratliff; and sister, Marguarite Ratliff Yonke.

 

She is survived by her son: Mike (Chris) Wimberly; daughter: Patti (Jim) Russell; granddaughter: Sara (Jake) Young; grandson: Andrew (Shannon) Wimberly; great grandchildren: Sophia, Aubrey and Austin Wimberly; nieces: Diane (Ronnie) Mims and Phyllis (Steve) Kirkland; nephew: Dwayne (Melissa) May; sister-in-law: Virginia (Butch) Griffith; and cousin: Alice Faye (Boyt) Goodson.

 

A family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Citra Cemetery, NE 175th Street, Citra, Florida.
