Nevada "Betta" Beatrice Hutchinson
August 23rd, 1942 - August 10th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Nevada “Betta” Beatrice Hutchinson, 82 died August 10, 2025 at Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by family. Nevada was born on August 23, 1942 to Landsen and Adeline (Johnson) New. She was the third of five children. Nevada graduated in 1960 from Floodwood High School. After graduation she moved to Duluth to work but returned to Floodwood and married James Hutchinson. Nevada was an avid bowler, traveling to Florida and Washington for bowling tournaments. She loved a good mystery novel with James Patterson and James Sanford being her favorite. You could also catch her watching a crime series on television or a documentary. She was a died hard Vikings fan to the end; watching a game with her was quite the ride! She loved her music and would brag about her great dance moves on the dance floor; you would often see her signature gun slinging move while she danced. Her eye for fashion and interior design is unmatched. Every outfit had bling to it and she loved “dressing to the nines.” Her jewelry, shoes and purses were typically outfit specific and boy did she have options! Her decorating abilities were also something you would only see in magazines. Her favorite place was Gulf Shores, AL where she loved to sip on a glass of wine on the balcony and jam to some Tina Turner, her favorite artist.Nevada may have been a flashy soul but her biggest greatness was her way of working with individuals with disabilities for 30+ years. Starting with Colonial Homes, followed by FST (previously DAC) and ending with Winter Homes. This was something she loved with her whole heart. As big of a heart she had for her work, she had an even bigger love for her grandchildren. She would say, “all of you are my favorites.”Nevada is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Wesley, and grandson Nicholas. She is survived by her children, Monty, Todd (Kim) and Rena (Steve); grandchildren Jade, Trae, Grant (Tawnee), Cassady and Marissa (Nick); great grandchildren Isaiah, Nash, Klay and baby boy on the way. Brother Jean and sisters Geraldine and Gretchen (Joe).Special thanks to Villa Vista in Cromwell for giving mom the best care and a place that really felt like home again.
Per her wishes, a private family celebration will be held at a later time. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home. To sign the guest book and offer an online tribute, see www.AtkinsNorthlandFuneralHome.com.
