Laura Nell Mora
January 18th, 1949 - August 6th, 2025
No goodbyes for us wherever you are. You will always be in my heart.
Laura Nell Mora, age 76, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Longmont, Colorado. Born on January 18, 1949, in Oakley, Kansas, Laura’s journey through life took her from a small town to the hearts of many as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and foster mother.
Laura’s early life in Kansas shaped her into a person with a profound appreciation for her roots. Her life took a pivotal turn in 1967 when she moved to Fort Collins to attend beauty school, a chapter that ended early but led to a beautiful beginning. It was during this time she started writing to David Mora, who was serving in Vietnam. Their exchange of letters blossomed into a lifelong romance, culminating in 56 years of marriage filled with love and mutual respect.
Professionally, Laura was dedicated to her role as an accountant, contributing significantly to the Census Bureau, EG&G Continental Labs and Alta Colleges. Her commitment to community service shone brightly from 2003 to 2017 when she and David fostered over 90 children. Their efforts did not go unnoticed as they were honored by Senator Ken Arnold for their advocacy in improving the foster care system in Colorado.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Laura indulged herself in reading mystery novels, exploring history and tracing family genealogy. Laura also loved big family gatherings around shared meals and wonderful conversations. Her joy in these hobbies was shared with David. A testament to their shared moments of simple pleasures.
Laura is survived by her husband, David Mora; children, Sand Mora and Brenda Bowman, Christina and John Gonzalez, Rex Mora, Marcos Mora Godinez and Passion Martinez, and John Mora; grandchildren, Yvonne Gonzalez, Emilio and Kaitlyn Gonzalez, Madison Mora Kahil and Saad Kahil and Makenna Mora. Great grandchildren, Johnathan Gonzalez, Murphy Gonzalez, Malik Kahil and Sophia Kahil; sister Doris Brown; brother Edward and Lorena Ludolph; stepsister Sharon and Larry Beichle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl Ludolph and Velma Maxine Ludolph Rohrbough.
Stepfather Elton Rohrbough, and siblings Dennis Ludolph, Vera Mcguire, and their spouses Gary Mguire and Duane Brown and grandson Johnathan Gonzalez.
Laura’s life will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Romero Funeral Home, 4750 Tejon St., Denver, CO 80211. The celebration of life includes a viewing at 9AM, followed by the service at 10AM and burial service at 12:15PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
